Most asked interview questions for dental hygienist

Behind every Dental hygienist interview questions there is a concern or another question. Your job is to process the question thinking about what the interviewer’s concern might be. In other words, why is the interviewer asking you this question?

It is always good that you study on some important interview questions before applying for a dentist post. But if you are unable to find it,

Here are some examples of interview questions and Get ready for the interview questions.

What kind of education, training and qualifications do you have relating to dental hygiene?

Bachelor's degree in science with a major in dental hygiene. You must take a national written exam as well as a clinical exam, then you must take an exam to get licensed in the state you would like to practice within. If you are in a state where you are qualified to administer local anesthesia, you must take a course demonstrating those skills as well as a written exam and licensure in your state to administer.

What do you think makes a good dental hygienist?

I think overall a good hygienist is someone who exhibits conscientiousness , and is willing to play many roles including that of a health care professional and educator first and foremost. You must be willing to take the time to teach your patients how to have proper oral hygiene. Another important goal is to make sure and meet your standards of care with each patient, including a full exam of tissues and bone levels as well as an annual oral cancer screening.

What made you choose dental hygiene as a career?

I knew that I wanted to help people, and I saw over and over again that my hygienist was not educating me the way she should have. I wanted to be the one to make a difference in the field.

Have you ever disagreed with a dentist regarding treatment of a patient? How did you resolve this issue?

As far as disagreeing with the doctor....well this happens far more frequent then I would like to mention. This is where you have to take a step back and think, "What is best for me and my patient as well". There are several ethical issues within an office and often times if you are struggling for employment you suck it up and do what the dentist says to do. However, if that means harming the patient I have been know to say you can have your job.

On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate your overall experience going through school and being a dental hygienist?

Going through school was very difficult and rigorous especially with clincals and board exams. The hardest part about dental hygiene is to find a job where you feel your patients are being treated to the best of your care. Also in many areas the market is saturated with new grads and not many jobs.
